Today, we announce another milestone development for ICON Park as a global leader in location-based entertainment, as we welcome a new tenant - The Orlando Eye. We proudly share that Merlin Entertainments has purchased the 400-ft. Wheel and Carousel attractions at ICON Park, choosing our 20-acre destination to expand their footprint of world-class brands in Central Florida. ICON Park built the attraction as the tallest observation wheel on the U.S. East Coast and successfully developed it into a famous Orlando landmark. We’re delighted to welcome it now as one of our outstanding ICON Park tenants. Renamed today The Orlando Eye at ICON Park, the attraction expands Merlin’s portfolio of family-friendly entertainment experiences in Orlando including two at ICON Park with SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium and Madame Tussauds Orlando, and the nearby LEGOLAND® Florida Resort and Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida. In its announcement, Merlin recognizes this 400-ft. icon as “a top attraction in the country’s tourism capital” and we couldn’t agree more! ICON Park was honored last week to host IAAPA’s senior management for a night of fun and dining. The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) is the leading international trade association for permanently located attractions. Thirty of IAAPA’s senior management team met in The Sky Lounge, our private 1200 sf event space, where they enjoyed drinks and learned more about ICON Park and Orlando’s Entertainment District. Next, they experienced The Wheel and then the 100+ eye-fooling exhibits at Museum of Illusions - Orlando. The evening culminated with a dinner at Helena Modern Riviera (formerly Tapa Toro). At Helena, the senior management team was treated to customized dishes from Helena’s developing menu of Mediterranean inspired cuisine. To top off the meal, they were treated to an assortment of desserts crafted by Chef Christophe, the executive pastry chef for Helena and Rosallie Las Vegas, who flew in from Las Vegas for this event. Helena Modern Riviera always includes personalized touches for their groups, from customized cocktail and drink menus to personalized handcrafted sugar sculptures for their guests to enjoy while dining. Thank you IAAPA for selecting ICON Park for your leadership outing! For many, the future of their journey into the world of #hospitality here in #Orlando begins with an education from University of Central Florida – Rosen College of Hospitality Management. ICON Park has made a promise to support this education by funding a scholarship program for students, helping lift the financial burden so that they may focus on becoming the next generation of leaders in the thriving hospitality industry. Recently, alongside Harris Rosen, ICON Park’s Manager of Community Engagement Gregory Fornadel was able to meet the first two recipients of the ICON Park Hospitality Scholarship at the 2023 Scholarship Celebration. These students, C. Dani Tatham and Eduin Rodriguez, have accomplished so much in their journey and have bright futures ahead. Who knows… the students that are awarded this scholarship may just end up joining the many other University of Central Florida graduates that are currently employed at ICON Park and it’s tenants businesses.
