Orlando, Florida
Orlando, Florida easily makes the list. While busy all year long, Visit Orlando says March and April are considered peak months. Domestic booking data from CheapOair backs this up, too.
Why it’s trending: The weather is warm, and there are plenty of fun activities for all ages. New theme park attractions are drawing crowds, including Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios and the Harry Potter-themed roller coaster ride at Universal Studios.
Budget tip: Check VisitOrlando.com for the latest hotel promotions. The Grove Resort Orlando, a few miles from Disney World, is also gaining attention for its affordability. The new budget-friendly resort has an on-site waterpark and indoor arcade with glow-in-the-dark mini golf. A large three-bedroom, two-bath suite may only cost $260 a night.

Austin, Texas
Priceline.com calls Austin, Texas a “standout” family destination for spring break. The site is already reporting a 79% increase in flights booked when compared to the same time last year.
Why it’s trending: Major conferences and events may correlate with the jump in visitors for March.
Budget tip: Visit in early April after the SXSW Festival (March 13-22) PGA World Golf Championships (March 25-29) end. That’s when occupancy rates are lower and hotel prices may be reduced. Scottsdale, Arizona
The Sonoran Desert ranks as a top place for families to visit this spring break. Vacation home booking site Vrbo says searches are up for Scottsdale, Arizona.
Why it’s trending: This part of the southwest is a toasty 80 degrees in March and April. Plus, baseball enthusiasts can check out the San Francisco Giants' practice games at Scottsdale Stadium.
Budget tip: Visit the Experience Scottsdale tourism website for activity suggestions, like where to raft and hike. And, if your family wants to be closer to the spring training action, consider a vacation home. A three-bedroom vacation rental home with a pool on Vrbo may go for around $133/night.
New York City
New York City is the second hottest spring break destination for families. That’s according to the latest hotel demand data from Hotwire.com (Orlando gets the top spot).
Why it’s trending: For entertainment and culture, NYC always scores high marks. In spring, temperatures warm up, city parks and gardens come alive, and walkability improves.
Budget tip: Visit NYCGo.com for a list of free museums. Families can also score deal opportunities for a last-minute booking on NYC hotels, according to HotelTonight.
Washington, D.C.
The nation’s capital is a longtime family favorite. And, the latest Priceline.com data suggests a 13% increase in the number of families booking flights to the Washington, D.C. area, when looking at a year-over-year comparison. Expedia data also shows high demand.
Why it’s trending: Families can easily enjoy this walkable, historical city on a budget. There’s free admission to the Smithsonian museums and National Zoo. Plus, city gardens are in bloom and temperatures are mild this time of year.

San Diego, California
Expedia reports San Diego, California is one of the more popular destinations for families this spring break. Hotwire also is reporting a higher demand for accommodations.
Why it’s trending: For starters, a warm climate and miles of pacific coastline. San Diego beaches also offer improved accessibility for those with disabilities, like free power beach wheelchairs and sand access mats. Adaptive surf programs and accessible sightseeing tours are also available.
Budget tip: SanDiegoFamily.com offers a list of restaurants where kids can score free eats. For accomodations, Bahia Resort Hotel is currently ranked No. 1 by TripAdvisor as the best value among family hotels in the area.
