While the industry prepares for an anticipated recovery after the disruption of 2020, several of the biggest industry meetings are set to take place this summer.
Here are five industry meetings that will take place this year in either live, online or hybrid formats.
The IRF Education Invitational
The IRF Education Invitational is set to take place Jun. 2-5, 2021 at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort, Marco Island, FL. The event will feature a full day of educational sessions highlighting trends and insights from many of the Incentive Research Foundation’s (IRF) research projects, as well as networking breakfasts, receptions and dinners. The industry meetings event will also include Live and Silent Auctions that enable the IRF to continue providing free industry research and education.

MPI WEC Vegas
Meeting Professionals International (MPI) is hosting its MPI WEC Vegas event on Jun. 15-17, 2021, at CAESARS FORUM in Las Vegas, NV. Participants are invited to play a role in planning, designing and shaping the future of meetings and events through open-source programming and live collaboration. The industry meetings event will be fully hybrid incorporating in-person and digital experiences, and will focus on four key learning pathways: Technology, Business Strategy, Meeting Design, Professional Development and Labs.

GBTA Convention 2021
The Global Business Travel Association’s (GBTA) GBTA Convention 2021 will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL, on Jul. 17-21, 2021. The event will include professional development programs and educational sessions, as well as a 5K Run/Walk to raise funds to help end human trafficking.

ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition 2021
The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) was set to hold the ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition on Aug. 14-17, 2021 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, TX, but due to continued concerns for the health and safety of attendees, the event will now be held virtually. The online industry meetings event will be accompanied by smaller, regional hub meetings that can safely take place around the country. Schedule information will be available in early May.

SITE Classic 2021
Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) will be hosting its SITE Classic event on Sep. 8-11, 2021 in Coronado, CA. The event is SITE’s flagship fundraiser that has been running for 14 years and has raised over $10 million, which it has reinvested in a wide variety of incentive travel related projects in the areas of research, educational development and advocacy around the business case for incentives. Originally a three-day golf tournament, the event has evolved into a learning and lifestyle event, with golf still available as an option.
