One of Universal Orlando’s most recognizable properties, the Aventura Hotel by Loews, will reopen on June 16, according to posts on the hotel’s official Instagram and Facebook accounts.

The wavy, mirrored hotel, visible to drivers passing the theme park on I-4, first closed in March 2020 when the theme parks shut down due to the pandemic. The Aventura briefly opened last summer but closed again in August when COVID-19 cases in Florida began to rise.

More than 2,000 employees were laid off or furloughed from Universal’s hotels during the pandemic. Loews has held at least two hiring events this month. In an email, Shawn German, Loews’ regional director of human resources, said the majority of former employees had returned to work, though he did not specify how many that was.

The Aventura is one of the last hotels at Universal to reopen. Despite the announcement, the hotel’s page at universalorlando.com still says operations are temporarily suspended.

Reservations can be made at loewshotels.com or by calling 407-503-6000. Rooms start at $185 online, though Florida residents can book for June 16 at $114 plus tax over the phone.

The 600-room Aventura first opened in August 2018.
